This week is always the best week of the year
1. IT IS MY BIRTHDAY WEEK
2. IT IS D-WEEK, hence no classes
3. THE D-DAY DANCE
D-week is my favorite tradition dixie high school has to offer. It is specifically so special to our school and is something nobody else gets to experience. Hence, we are the coolest.
The whole week is dedicated to Dixie, and we celebrate with assemblies, no classes, basketball games, class Olympics, the bucket run (my personal favorite), and the d-day dance.
This year was especially special because it was my last one and my friends and I took in every second of it.
HERES TO DIXIE
One of the many assemblies we had was the diamond D assembly, where I got to MC it with one of my best friends.
THE BUCKET RUN, aka my favorite tradition.
The morning of the bucket run we all wake up bright and early and meet at the school at 5:30 to paint the Dixie rock. All the seniors line up from the high school to the red mountain, and we run a paint bucket all the way up then celebrate with breakfast. After instead of holding classes, the school has class Olympics, where each grade competes against each other in a variety of events. It is incredibly intense and is a stressful few hours for everyone around. However, OUR CLASS WERE BACK TO BACK CHAMPS... let's go!
NOW FOR THE BEST PART OF THE ENTIRE WEEK..
The D-day dance !!!
This year we decided to do a huge group with our closest guy and girl friends and celebrate all together, which was the perfect way to go. During the day we all got together and spent the day in the sun where we ate many hotdogs & hamburgers, played hands up stands up for too long, and received horrible sunburns. It was all so worth it.
Later, my friends and I got all fancied up and did a little photoshoot. The pictures were taken by yours truly... It was a bit difficult trying to capture a group picture and trusting the guys to take some of us girls, but they all turned out lovely. The night was crazy because I had THREE FRIENDS OPEN THEIR MISSION CALLS... it still is so weird to me. We were driving all over town to make it on time. Afterward, we all met up at the dance and went hard for the next couple of hours. We started many mosh pits (where I was continuously trampled), we sang T-Swift and danced harder than ever before to her, and we had our hands up high the whole night dancing insanely and not caring who was watching. I am going to miss many things about high school, but school dances definitely are on the top of the list.
I am so incredibly grateful for Dixie High and all of the many memories I have made here and especially all of the people I met because of it. In high school, many people either absolutely hate it or love it. I was one of the lucky ones who loved high school, and I owe it all to these people.
They made every day I attended worth it and have been there for me through it all.
At every dance, we went to whether it was one of our own or one we crashed, they made it the funnest, craziest dance. In every class, we would have too much fun, even when we were kicked out in the halls. After every school day, they were the ones that kept me hours after because we were too caught up in conversation. At every sporting event, they would scream at the top of their lungs with me and show up hours early for the best seats possible. And they are the ones that will make leaving high school so hard.
At the end of the dance, the song "Forever Young" played and all of my friends created a huge circle and slow danced and sang at the top of our lungs. This was the moment where we realized everything would be different in too short of time, however, I cannot wait for the many new adventures we will have. Shout out to my best friends who have been there through it all.
word of advice: cherish your time in high school while it lasts because it comes to an end so fast
peace out
