california road trip

californiaaaaaa

this trip was one for the books

the past 12 days the family and i have been driving hundreds of miles all across california, taking in view after view.

it was a little crammed with the four of us (plus a dog)  in our little RV but I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. we were with each other every second of everyday. literally. we're all back in one piece and closer than ever.. so it obviously was a success. also we tested out harvey's (the dog) swimming ability and it came back positive: he's a natural swimmer. oh, and my brother alec learned how to tie his shoes like an adult so those were some added bonus's to the trip.

but lets get this show on the road, and introduce the places we spent hours driving to, and the pictures i snapped on the way. (hah excuse the pun.)

first stop: sequoia national forest

pine valley trips

in the summer there isn't much to do in st. george. we pretty much have to spend the whole day hiding out indoors or submerging ourselves into water. one bonus of living here is we can drive 30 minutes then we're in the mountains. which is exactly what we needed. this last week we took advantage of the mountains and took a spontaneous trip to one of my favorite places, pine valley. we partied all night... and by party i mean setting up hammocks, eating, and listening to the guys jam on their guitars. so yeah IT WAS PRETTY CRAZY.

blanding for the 4th

For the 4th of July, we were able to head up to Blanding for a couple days to spend some time with my family. I never had the opportunity to live next to family, but it always makes it more special when we make the 7 hour trip over to see them. It's always super crazy. The place is over occupied with children and dogs. It's a little insane at times, but it makes for an exciting trip.
It's never the most relaxing trip ever but it's always non-stop fun. Which was EXACTLY what I needed. It was filled with family, babysitting (the most adorable kids), pickleball, settlers of catan, biking, exploring the canyon, food, and reading in the sun.
