d-week '17

Dixie High school is the best school around (don't argue with me on this. You'll only lose the argument and maybe some other things too).

Since Dixie is over a hundred years old it has a WHOLE LOT of history behind it (obviously), we have a lot of traditions we celebrate. My personal favorite being D-WEEK

Pretty much the whole week is just assemblies, free food, no homework, activities, and short classes. It's all fun and games.

Also the class of 2018 is the best. We proved that this week by winning the class olympics. No big deal, wait actually, IT'S A BIG DEAL.

Saturday was the d-dance. So that gave me and my friends an excuse to go get all fancied up. We took pictures, got dinner, then went to the dance. We got to the dance right on time. Normally I would oppose but someone had to get the party started. Right? We stayed the entire dance, throwing our hands up in the air, dripping sweat and taking much needed breaks. The dance was way over occupied because dixie was nice enough to host this free party for all of region 9.

Word of advice to everyone: it is in everyones best interest to NOT wear a flowy dress on a windy day. It'll save you a whole lot of embarrassment and astonished looks.

OH AND I DEFINITELY LUCKED OUT IN THE BEST FRIEND DEPARTMENT

HAPPY D-WEEK, FRENS!!

sixteen going on seventeen

HEY ITS ME LEXIE. A 17 YEAR OLD. NO BIG DEAL.
actually ya, its a big deal.
because THAT IS SO OLD.
like remember when you were a kid and someone told you they were 17 and you were like
WOAH. RESPECT.
except kids still don't respect me... maybe i need to stop acting like a child haha.
anyway.

today was a great day to turn 17.
It was spent with my family and friends with a whole lot of food.

The day before my birthday we had a family birthday party. We had a BBQ and cake and ice cream. So obviously, it was a great day.

The next day (my actual birthday) I had to go to school. At least this time I had a fairly valid excuse to miss a few classes.  For lunch we headed to one of my favorite places in this town of mine, Judds. Of course, we ate lots and had to have our annual, unintentional, dysfunctional photoshoot.
My friends helped me push through this long school day, bless up.

this is us 95% of the day
she didn't say yes but her reaction was good enough

happy easter!

Happy Easter everyone!

Easter is really good for MANY reasons; I get an sugar overload on cadbury eggs, we get a five day weekend, and of course we get to celebrate the saviors resurrection and what he did for us.

Easter is the perfect holiday to help put things into perspective and realize that in today's society, with so much turmoil and uncertainty, one thing is certain. And that is that He lives! and LOVES US!

I've seen His hand in my life so many times and am grateful for the knowledge I have that I will be with Him again.

I know that He lives! He is the #princeofpeace, the light of the World, the Son of God, and my Savior. He loves unconditionally and gives everyone the opportunity to follow Him and be changed. I know that His Atonement is for each one of us and that we will all live again.

“And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! “For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father— “That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God” (D&C 76:22–24).

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter filled with good food, family and love!

back to the 50's

This weekend was a throwback to sixty something years ago to one of my favorite decades, the fifties.

Wow, I sure do wish I was born in that time. Well sometimes. I've got to admit it would be hard but dang I love the fashion.

Anyways, this weekend was one of my many favorite traditions that Dixie has to offer. El Cheapo. A little background on this dance. Every year a theme is picked and that is how everyone dresses. The date is supposed to be SUPER cheap (Which is hands down my favorite part hah). This year the theme was the fifties.

Me and my friends decided to change it up a bit and do our own thing. Just us girls.

We took many, many pictures downtown. Ate (way) too much food at one of our favorite places, Frost top. Then headed to the dance, where we stayed most of the night acting like complete fools and not giving a care who sees. I am not exaggerating we were absolutely crazy. Those are the best kind of dances though, right?

Okay, I have to share possibly the funniest moment of my life. I have to share even though my friend (cough* cough* McCall) will probably kill me. Sorry it's too good not to share;)

After the dance we were so exhausted and so hot so we headed outside for a little fresh air. My friend here is a bit clumsy but this was a little extra tonight hah. As we were all talking she went to go by the river that runs through our school. As she did she slipped, slid across the rock, and completely submerged into the water. OH MY GOSH WE COMPLETELY DIED. We were all on the floor rolling, crying, and even peed a little. We stayed like this for 20 minutes and every time we recovered it would start all over again. Luckily, she was okay. She was a little bit scraped up, soaked, and her dress now had a green tint to it from the moss, but all was well.

This will definitely be a night I will never forget. Dang, I am so blessed with some of the greatest friends.

Oh and we rocked the fifties look pretty well, wouldn't yah say?
